Hi, I'm Caila
I’m an artist drawn to the strange, the quiet, and the unsettling. My love of art began with my nana, Pip, whose warmth and guidance sparked my earliest creativity. Motivated by a desire to honour her memory, I channel that inspiration into my work, carrying forward the lessons, curiosity and love for making that she instilled in me.
My work sits somewhere between folklore and feeling, inspired by cryptids, old stories and dark, atmospheric landscapes. I focus on mood, texture and the small details that make a scene linger in your mind.
I create original paintings as well as prints and illustrated goods, all based on my own artwork. My preferred medium is acrylic, and each piece is made with care and intention, with an emphasis on atmosphere and storytelling.
When I’m not painting, you’ll find me hiking or wandering the woods with my partner and our dogs, thrifting, or cuddling up on the couch with a good story.
If my art makes you feel curious, comforted, or just a little uneasy, then it’s doing what it’s meant to do.
Thank you for being here and supporting independent art.
